Proper traditional pub - obviously popular and lively on a Friday/Saturday. I was recommended this by a friend and he was not wrong- we were very pleased with our stay and the beer was good too!A place with proper character, whichto my taste is so much better than some anonymous chain.Smallish rooms are in an adjacent building so no noise problems from the pub itself, although the sound insulation between the rooms was not that great - bathrooms basically fine, but could be improvedbut it's a pub with rooms so you are not expecting a pool, bathrobes and room service!. Amiable and welcoming landlord and all the family/ staff seemed genuinely keen to please and to accommodate requests, Breakfast and evening meals were fresh, home-cooked and generously proportioned!Commended.- B
This is a proper, unpretentious, comfortable local pub. A perfect place to stay if you are looking for decent, clean accommodation next to a vibrant village pub with plenty of quiet corners and outdoor seating with much covered. Excellent home made food is served in generous proportions. Service is amazingly fast by polite staff. We ate there on two evenings and breakfasted on three and the quality was unwaveringly good. A good selection of ales (the landlords are ale drinkers!) and other drinks served in an attractive bar. These are consummate landlords who make you feel welcome, remember your name and drink even if you are only staying a couple of nights. - Nick O
